Peoples ages on early census records should always be taken as a guide rather than as fact as some people "Adjusted" their age or perhaps did not really know when and where they were born. 17 years difference however is quite a gap which I would personally question as being correct. |

I am trying to find the correct date of birth for my Gr.Gr. Grandmother. On her headstone and death certificate her age is given as 84 making her date of birth 1778. On all census from 1841-1861 her date of birth is given as 1795. |
