Hasty enquiry here in search of Livings in GR Free BMD-Refs. I run back 1985>2003 to track dates of my Nieces but note no Records available? Roughly what point are they shown up to please? Grateful!

No need to go through GR

This site will tell you where they are up to in transcriptions...... roughly 1950s .

FreeBMD is still work in progress. When the records were suddenly not going to be available any more FreeBMD asked for people to go to the BIG RED ledgers held at the LRO in Islington and try to record as many pages as possible so they could do the transcriptions.

If you look on FreeBMD it will tell you where its at at the mo on records

Many thanks Ladies, I had a feeling that I was being overly optomistic after finding much to assist search up to this time, Parents etc....Oh well, that's the way it goes!

Well if you want some look ups there are other sites that hold the BMDS. like Ancestry and FMP.

We wait with PC pointers to the fore!! lol :-D

FreeBMD's objective is to transcribe the ** printed ** GRO index.
The latest printed volume is 1983q4 - after that, the GRO started producing a computer based index. Even though it's not transcribed thru 1983 yet (nothing after 1961 is complete), you can still "view images" from FreeBMD's home page and do your own transcription if it's just the odd pre-1984 record that you want.

GR have records up to 2005. Unless you are a platinum member, they are not indexed, so will require a bit of searching (you have to look at each quarter) but you should be able to find them. My granddaughter was born in 2004 and I found her entry very quickly.
