Anyone heard of the Travel Guild?

Yes I did see the other passengers with the same c/o address & Thos Cook.

As she sailed back from Cherbourg I did wonder if the ship started from Saouthampton. I would love to know what happened to her (and her brother Thomas Sidney) after 1930.

Their address in 1930 was 175 Atlantic Avenue, Winnipeg.

It was probably the name of the travel agent she used. Quite a common thing for someone to use their agent, bank, club, etc as a c/o address, especially if they weren't staying in one location. If you look further down that page you'll see there are a number of passengers also using the Travel Guild, one using Thos Cook, etc.

I notice she sailed back to Canada from Cherbourg so perhaps she was having a bit of a European tour?

I have just found 2 ship passenger list records for an Alice Eleanor CARVER.

Alice was born in Winnipeg, Canada in 1900. In 1930 she is listed as a passenger on the SS Empress of Scotland arriving in Southampton. She gives her occupation as an accountant and "Proposed UK address" as "c/o Travel Guild, 32 St. James Street, London. She sails back to Canada about 1 month later.

Looking on Google Earth for this address I see the street is mostly private houses but number 32 was possibly next to the little church.

Has anyone heard of the Travel Guild or have any idea what it was?
