Hi all,
Sorry for late reply---my computer's been down. I haven't got a birth certificate for Daisy Cecilia but it looks as tho' I'm barking up the wrong tree with female unknown. I found another Chick born in Fulham in the same quarter as Daisy ,who died in the next quarter. His name was Henry Thomas Chick which is the name of Daisy's father's grandfather, but not consecutive numbers, but it made me think about twins. one surviving, one dying. There was a history of twins in the family---Daisy's younger brother Lawrence was a twin, but Gran miscarried the other in mid pregnancy.
Regards,
Alison

Shirley, I only noticed because Alison on her OP said Daisy Cecilia born 1896, and it being registered March quarter 1897 which implies a late registration thats why i asked if she had the birth cert?

If my math's are correct Daisy Cecilia would have to be born late Febuary 97 even with the female birth born 96 and registed late?

too close to call without Daisy Cecilia birth cert

Would be very close thing hardly 9 months between and that depends on the actual birth dates of both children

Alison, Do you have the birth cert for Daisy Cecilia, you listed her as born 1896 but the birth is registered in the march quarter 1897 so was she born late 1896? with 6 weeks to register this often happens

because the death cert you refer to and registered as Female, would be to close to Daisy Cecilia's birth for that to be the correct death

Female birth was registered Sept quarter "even with the 6 wk to register" so could have been born late May and the death was registered the same September quarter,

if i am wrong some one will say so

Thanks! Hadn't thought about Cecil/Cecilia. I'll try" female unknown" first and if that's not it, move on to Cecil, but he was four years old when he died and surely would have featured in the family oral history. And thanks Roy---I'm not much good at this research lark, so can save myself some time on my next trawl!
Kind regards,
Alison

Repeating Shirley's post

Births Jun 1902
CHICK cecil John Fulham 1a 253

Deaths Sep 1906
Chick Cecil John 4 Fulham 1a 132

And in your OP, you have Daisy >>Cecelia<<<1896!

But gut instincts are good; Just don't reject Cecil John permanently ;-)

Hello Shirley-I'm getting the hang of it,
I've discounted Cecil John for the time being because there's no record that he died, and I reckon that I would have heard of a sibling of my father (like Lawrence) who had lived for some time. Also, my Gran was a great recycler of names and most of the children had "family" names, and there are no Cecils in the family. I may well be wrong but I'm going with gut instinct right now!
Kind regards,
Alison

I don't understand why you would wade through 200 birth records in Fulham for that time span?

You should have started by going through deaths first, their was only about 8 or so on freebmd including the one you new about that matched your criteria, you could have then cross referenced those with births

have you discounted young Cecil then ??

Alison

Alison Report 20 May 2012 11:17

Thankyou all for your help. I've now waded through 200 birth records in Fulham in that timespan and matched them up to death records and have found one possible----female Chick, born and died in1896, so I'll have to get a death certificate to see if it's the one. If it is, it will be very sad as my Gran lost her toddler Lawrence to convulsions that year, and also her mother-in-law.
Kind regards,
Alison

Try FreeBMD for births and deaths for the surname chick . it may mean getting some certs to verify though it the right family

Alison Report 19 May 2012 19:06

I always understood that my father ,William Edmund Chick, 1906, was one of six children born to Alice Gertrude and Albert Chick, the others being Florence Mary1892, Lawrence 1894(he died as a toddler),Daisy Cecelia1896, Dorothy M.1899,,Lawrence Albert F. 1904, The family lived in Fulham, London. the other day I saw a copy of the 1911 census and it said that there had been seven live births ,five children still living. As I have no idea of when this other child was born or it's name or sex, how do I go about finding any more information? Any help would be most gratefully received.
Thanks, Alison
