Maddie Report 22 May 2012 13:14

this is the 1851 from ancestry
cannot find it on fmp
there is a child ann apparentley born in Hamberg, middle name cousin,
I thinlk it should be Hampshire and could cousin mean cousin ?

The child William has been transcribed as Hape but is listed as son. He cannot be the son of the child nurse. Could he be the son of the head of the household.

Not looking for lookups as names have been posted before, just for someone to view the image and help with interpretation please.

Maddie,
I Forgot to say...
Re- 1851 census that I have sent you.
The whole page is written in the same enumerator's hand,
I cannot read Georgina Mary's last name, but it does not say HAPE.
Look at the letter H in Hampshire.... entirely different form.

NB. I think that Georgina is a 2yr old "Nursing Child" rather than a child nurse.
27yr old Martha was possibly a short term Wet Nurse to this infant.

A possible for the nurse child?

Georgiana Mary Thorpe
daughter of George Thorpe and Mary Thorpe
baptised 28 May 1849
at St Pancras Old St Pancras, Camden

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 23 May 2012 01:35

The term "nurse child" just means foster child. Nothing to do with nursing i.e. breastfeeding.

Maddie - if you have the census ref - here:

RG number: HO107
Piece: 1518
Folio: 267
Page: 24

on either FMP or Ancestry, you can always find them on the other site.
On FMP, click on the census ref search link in the lower right corner of the full person search box, and you can enter the ref and see all the names on the page. Alternatively, on Ancestry, you can enter the ref in the bottom of the advanced search box (with nothing else entered) to see the names on that page - on Ancestry, you have to be doing an old style search - the old/new style switch is usually just under the main banner nar at right.
(If it's not select Search - Search all records from the main banner bar to get it to appear - I recommend checking the exact matches only box).
