Are you saying he was adopted? he doesnt need his original birth cert as he would no longer be connected legally to his birth parent/s. |

If adopted he can always access his adoption file. But as Shirley says, no adopted person needs their original birth cert. |

There will be an adoption cert for him either way - he needs to ask his parents for it. |

If the scenario is his mum married and he was then adopted by the new husband he would in fact have been adopted by his mum too in her new married name,This happened to a family member who had a child when single and then went on to marry another man she had to adopt her own son in her new married name which happened at the same time . So a married couple with a different surname adopted the child even though the mum was his biological mum Sounds odd but that was how it was done |

Just an extra note - if someone is 21 or over, they don't need their mother's (either adoptive or natural) permission or assistance to gain a copy of their own birth certificate. Suggest they could perhaps contact their own local Registrar of BMD's in private and they will advise them how to proceed. |

BUT he doesnt NEED his original birth cert for any job interview . Yes he can get it if he knows what his mums name was before she married his stepdad . |

If the mother wasnt married to the father then he may not be named on it anyway,, |
