I've been searching for one of my Grandma's sisters, Alice Davis, for over 7 years and at long last I now have a photo of her.

I was contacted by a gt grandson of Alice on Ancestry who felt sure that 'my' Alice was 'his' too. After exchanging family memories that he had from his older relatives and me ordering the marriage certificate we had the proof.

He even gave me Cemetery details of where my Gt Grandmother, Lydia Davis was buried...something I didn't know.

Chuffed or what! :-D

How nice, bet you are really chuffed. Sometimes they elude no matter what ,it just needs a family member to provide the details and it ahhll falls into place.

Off course but my FIL was illegitimate despite his mum masquerading as married and registering him and two sisters as if she was married. Made searching very difficult. Seems his father was much older than his mum and married. I have found his father on the 1911 and dad in a home. A recent genes contact revealed that h is mum was a bit flighty!! and never did marry and the contacts mum who is still alive knew her and the fact she had a least i child .his elder sister, but didnt know of dad. She was able to tell me his mum died c1932 BUT unfortunately seems she was living with yet another guy name unknown so not able to get a death cert. I have tried with just her christian name and birth year and bought wrong certs so gave up as too costly

Not easy tracking DAVIS so I can just imagine how pleased you were to exchange information then proof.

Yes I have purchased a few incorrect certificates, but luckily not too many!

Late Father in law always said he was an orphan...but we now know different and my hubby had an aunt, and 3 cousins he never knew until we found two of them still alive a few years ago..both in their 80's. :-D

I totally agree with you Teresa :-) Never ever give up!!....

I was giving up, infact had on here but decided to come back and try again....within a few days I had found more family members than I could have dreamed of and between us we are finding more......

It can be hard, confusing and frustrating but if you can stick with it it can be so worthwhile......

Hope you find many more branches of your tree :-)
