Hi Jan,

The birth was registerd by the mother.
I need to check a map for the area.

Or - I seem to recall from somewhere - the registration was done outside the district where the birth took place. Would this make any sense?

EDIT I think this is right - check this out:

Who registered the birth Stephen? If not the mother, possibly the informant was putting the information she gave them, hence 'by declaration'.
But I am guessing here!

I hope someone can help please.

I have received a birth certificate from 1960.
Under the signature, description and residence of informant is says

Name, mother address and then says "by declaration dated 7th November 1960" I dont understand what this could mean.

The birth was 12th October 1960 and the child went in to foster care.

Can someone help please?

Many thanks.

Stephen
