Dorothy Report 28 May 2012 08:55

My father died in an industrial accidental at the Beverley Glue works Yorkshire in September 1936 and I am keen to find out the details of his death. I have tried to get in touch with the Beverley Guardian but without success so I am turning to this notice board to find out if some kind person can get this information for me or perhaps tell me where my next move should be. I live in hope.

The Treasure House seems to be the most likley place tohold them. It is located in Champney Road, Beverley, HU17 8HE. It is about 10 minutes walk from the railway and bus stations.

If you click on the link below, it will take you to the Treasure House page.

Type away, then press the purple 'Submit' button.

Thank you

Thank you so much for adding my request to the notice board so promptly, I have had three replies already with information as to where I can get details of his death certificate. I am also hoping to get the report of the inquest which I have been told was published in the Guardian, my only regret is that I can't do the research personally as Australia is a bit too far away. Thank you once again.

You're welcome Dorothy. You could always email the various archives/libraries on the above addresses. They may make a charge to look things up for you

To those who have contacted Dorothy by PM.

It would have been helpful if you had at least posted on this thread that you were in contact with her, and giving an indication of the information being sent.

The boards work best when people co-operate and build on each other's research.............and avoids duplication of effort!

Dorothy

There are newspaper reports on the following site ..........

http://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/

you can search for free .......

.. click on Advanced Search

enter ernest+herbert+clark

dates (to cover all eventualities, like delayed inquest) .....
September 1936 to December 1940

click search

The first report is from the Hull Daily Mail

You have to buy credits to see the full report.

These newspaper archives are also available here on GR ...... again you can search for free, and then buy credits to read the article .......... but I think the actual site has better duplication of the material.

Be warned ......... it looks very gruesome!

You're right, Sylvia - it doesn't make pleasant reading so rather than transcribe the articles here I'll forward the cuttings to Dorothy.

Dorothy Report 29 May 2012 05:34

Hi Sylvian

Thank you for the advice on where to look for details on my fathers death, I have now received two newspaper articles from Marie Celeste which I shall pass on to my two remaining sibling, at last the mystery has been cleared up and I am at least glad he did not suffer for long. I shall now investigate some of the other sites which were suggested.
All the best

Hi Marie Celeste,

I'm Sorry I made the mistake of answering you direct instead of through the notice board, I shall get it right the next time.
