General query on census records on message boards

Good evening,
I have noticed that many members include full details of a particular census record within a post. I was just curious as to whether they laboriously type out the details or cut and paste them from another source. If the latter, what is the source, as I can't see any way to do it using Ancestry?
Thanks in advance.
Ron

Copy and paste from ancestry.
Not magic, just normal method.

Hi Ron
just highlight the document, copy and paste. Works on ancestry and FMP

Thanks both, but being really thick. When you say highlight the document, which document do you mean. On Ancestry there's the record page and the original image, but is there something else?

On ancestry you highlight the record page - or as much of it as you want to include.
Copy and paste.
You can then add extra information from the original image if necessary and it does not show on the record page. You can also remove the unwanted bits.

Brilliant, thanks. Thought there was some other method.

My preference is to copy & paste Ancestry's transcription, giving, say:

Well, that's fine if I'm only ever interested in William, but how about his family?

Next I click on the link
Neighbors: View others on page

and then copy & paste the pob and relationship, and finally look at the record and type in (by hand) the address, marital status, occup & disability (although 1881 is a bit difft, as they're also transcribed here - it's the free LDS transcription that Ancestry uses), then remove all the redundant stuff to get:

William Atherton 57 Bedford Leigh, Lancashire, England Head M Broker (Servant)
Mary A. Atherton 53 Winwick, Lancashire, England Wife M Broker

I would also add corrections from the image, e.g.,
William Atherton [Alderton]
if that's what I thought it said - I don't have access to image, and with folk born in Bedford and Chowbent, it's a rather fanciful correction.
