Please can I have help to find someone in the 1871 and 1911 and I also have a question. Has anyone come across an early census entry where someone is shown as a son in law when they probably weren't. Was that description ever used to say this person is treated as our son/belongs to us etc? I've gone blotchy-eyed now which means I've spent too long looking at the screen so got to leave the computer for a while. I'd be ever so grateful for some help or suggestions.Details below.

Many thanks. Jill

In 1851 Peter Coley shown age 15 unmarried son in law of hubby's GGG Grandfather Thomas Blogg age 36 living at Speedwell Mill, Balsall Heath Road, Birmingham.I have checked the original and it's very clearly shown.

In 1841 Peter is shown as age 7 with the same family but obviously no status recorded. With the age difference between the two census he could easily be 17 and not 15 in 1851. I haven't found his baptism on FamilySearch but I have traced him through subsequent census in the hope of finding a member of the family living with him to establish a relationship but no luck.

I can't find him in the 1871 though, and curiously not the Blogg family either.

I haven't found him in 1911 either and there's not an obvious death on FreeBMD

Hi Again,

Thank you all ever so much for this. I have no idea why I couldn't find them. The difference in the transcriber sites I guess.

I've looked for Caroline Hodgkiss on here in the 1911 and she doesn't show up so I guess not just my crappy searching skills.

I'll now treat Paul as the stepson.

Thank you again.
