Hi

Thank you. I should have asked the question before. Up until now everyone has been so helpful I did not feel the need but there is always one!

Christine - many people on here do not just give access to people, in fact it is recommended not to do so.

Most would say, that on initial contact from another member you would do some querying of your own to ensure that the person they are talking about is actually related.

ie You are contacted by Jo Smith who says I have Bert Brown in my tree who also appears in yours can I see your tree.
Reply: Thanks for the query, could you tell me more about your Bert, ie DOB and place of birth and parents name.

If other person not too forthcoming with this info - NO Tree Access.

It is not rude - just plain common sense.

:-)

Christine - if you go to the "Messages" drop down menu above there is a link "My Contacts". If you select that then the person that you want to stop accessing your tree will be there. The option is there to either allow or stop people having access.

No it's not rude to not give access - it's your tree after all! However, it is good to share info where possible. I always ask people what the connection is and will often just send them a message with relevant info.

Hi

New to this and allowed access to my family tree to another member. Is it possible to stop them having access afterwards?

Is it considered rude to not allow when asked?

Regards

Christine
