I sent them a pm aksing about overseas members (well, complaining about overseas members not having a chance to participate :-D )

This is the response I got back from Estelle ..... well within 12 hours

Dear Sylvia

thanks for your email. The announcement we posted on our message boards is for the first round of testing. However we obviously don't want to leave any of our members out and we are looking at ways to include overseas and housebound members by using something like Skype or a secure website link.

Once we have worked out a solution we will let you all know.

Kind Regards,

--------

Surely GR have the technology to set up a conference call?

Oh, sorry, I was dreaming.......... :-D

Totally agree Reggie

Could get down on the coach for about £22 but would need an overnight stay going by the time the coach gets into London and would not be able to get back the same day ;-)

But time I add in kennel charges for Suzy I still would not be able to make it

Shame because if I still lived in Surrey then I would have put my name down to see if I got accepted

The site usage now is minimal in comparison with past years

One sure thing - they won't select anyone who has criticised them.........which rules out all of the people whose input would be remotely useful

When I suggested rolling back the site to what it was two years ago I meant the way the site worked for users. Genes could have invested in extra bandwidth to deal with the extra traffic and still left the way the site worked as it was.

There certainly aren't more people using the message boards these days.

rules me out - 50 pounds won't get me far. I live in Australia.

They have taken suggestions on board (e.g. restoring the old tree when some members had problems with the new tree).

I would expect they will select members who can be constructive in their criticisms and who use a broad range of the site's facilities. Hopefully they will not rule out helpers who do not have a tree on the site.

As for rolling back the site to two years ago, while it might seem a good idea, that site was already bursting at the seams and now there are another two years of trees and messages on it.

There is no indication they have actually taken on board any of the suggestions already posted so why should I believe they will take any notice of what members say if they do go to London.

Wonder how they will select the memebrs to take part in this ?

It will be such a small percentage anyway so it will be a waste of time taking part as the Team will do what they want anyway

The post isn't on Find Ancestors or Find Living Relatives - which are the boards I use most.

I'm certain I won't see the one change I would really like to see - that is the whole of the site rolled back two years before they started messing with it - and I'm sure they could do it if they really wanted to!

I'd love to think they really have taken on board all the suggestions made - but I haven't seen any airborne pigs

I live within the financial 'range' but wouldn't even consider taking up the offer..............my blood pressure is nice and low, and I want it to stay that way

Well the price of a train ticket rules me out - £104

It is on the other boards "We need your help" !

I just got logged out again so I hope they deal with the current problems before making any more changes !

Pity they´re only offering 50 quid.
I´d love to go, but I live in Spain.

Very interesting. I wish I lived closer to London or felt up to making the journey.

It would be nice if they could put on another post telling those of us who can't take up the offer what the changes involve (again before they make the changes).

Wonder why they haven't put it on all the boards?
