I'm sorry for your loss.


However, the explanation is probably as below ...........


The death certificate will have his exact age ........... but the registrations that you see either on here, on freebmd or on ancestry are all taken from the GRO indexes, and they round all ages to a year.

Children between the ages of birth and 1 are rounded down to 0

ages 1-2 are rounded to 1


and so on.





They are after all taken from an Index.

As you say, its because he died before he reached the age of One.

We can shake our heads when we see infant deaths time after time in a Victorian family, but in your case, the loss the parents must have felt is close to your heart. <3

I hadn't ever seen the birth registration details of our little chap that died during his first year. I had quite a shock to see it said 0. :-(
