If you use the cash back site Quidco and subscribe to Ancestry through that you get 25% cashback (on the price before VAT)

I think it costs £5 per year to join Quidco but you don't have to pay up front - they take it out of your cashback.

I have emailed Ancestry I will let you know how I get on. If they really want the business then hopefully I might get a few £ of .

I must admit I had a subscription to Ancestry for about 7 or 8 years when I let it lapse. I thought they might offer me a discount to renew but I heard nothing from them. I then decided to phone them and ask if there was any way they would reduce the cost slightly since I had subscribed for so long. Unfortunately the person I spoke to was not very helpful and I got nowhere.

I now have a subscription to Findmypast.

Have a look at the deals offered by Tesco using their vouchers ( if you have some of course! ) I got a fantastic deal last year and had 6 months worldside membership and a copy of FTM for - I think - something like £20 in vouchers.

When I contacted Ancestry asking for a loyalty discount I was offered 10%, but that was at a push. Another site like Quidco is TopCashBack, they offer 25.25% cashback on Ancestry and it is free to join.

I wasn't aware of any discount offers when I started my 14 day free trial last week. I have already done a considerable amount of work.

If I were to withdraw and then take up an offer, would I lose all the family tree that I have already entered, please?

Any help gratefully received, thank you. :-)

@ Lavender
You will not lose you family tree what ever you do, even if you don't take up a membership your tree will still be there, you will still be able to view and amend it just by logging in, but to keep things simple, if you want to take out a membership, just use your current registered details.
