Just wondering whether the tree I am starting to put together on Ancestry would remain if I didn't keep my subscription up?

I'm sure that I should know. Many thanks :-)

I would think that If you don't remove your tree then it will still be their just as it is with GR and other sites

The tree itself will be there, but any records you attached from the site's data base will disappear. It might be worth down-loading the images if you intend to cancel.

If you then subscribe at a later date (so a contact tells me) the records are automatically re-attached.

One word of advice, on Ancestry do make your tree PRIVATE, that way those interested in someone on your tree will have to contact you and then you decide who sees your tree.

Also all Public Trees on ancestry are place in Mundia (a sub site of Ancestry).

Protect your tree and your research, beware of tree scrumpers!!!! :-D

If I see a tree on Anc and wish to contact the owner., I always look at their profile first and see when they last logged in.
If it is been a long time, then the chances are, they no longer take an interest.
I wish GR had this facility, as it would explain lack of response from other members.
I have 2 trees on ANC.
One is fully documented and completely unsearchable.
Any info that I have added relating to a document, which is in turn added to an individual, would also show up on a search and for this reason, I chose not to make the tree searchable

I keep a duplicate undocumented tree which is still private, but can be found on a search

It isn't only Public trees that are put on Mundia by Ancestry. After googling one of my "names" I was shocked to find my private, unsearchable tree come up on there, made totally public!! After several "strongly worded" e-mails to Ancestry they removed it - but I had to fight to get it done.
Apparently somewhere hidden deep in the Ancestry small print you automatically agree to them using your tree as they see fit.
