This site goes back to the 1600's and covers the whole world, although most of it is USA and Canada.

Ivy,

Thanks very much, that looks like a very interesting site and I've bookmarked it for later. As I think I will be spending quite sometime on it.

Thanks so much again for that.

National Archives concentrate on UK generated records; you might also find information from India generated records, which are held by the British Library for the period of the British administration:

Try 'passenger lists before 1890' - this will mainly guide you to National Archives site, where there is quite a bit of info about what records you can access.
I have a feeling there are few records if any, but I might be wrong!

Hi Reggie, Yes I have.

But maybe I'm not putting in the right thing. I've used

1868 traveling from India to England
passenger records from India 1868

Although some come up they are from 1890 which is too late for what I need.

thanks Lou

Have you considered googling?

Can anyone tell me where I may find passenger records for 1865 - 1870 please?

My 2x Gt Grandfather worked in India and arrived back in England around 1868. He was working on the railway and was there from 1853. Ancestry passenger records start in 1878 and I don't know where else to look so any advice or help would be very appreciated.

Thanks Lou
