RENEWAL ...

Morning all

My renewal is coming up shortly..
The only parts of this website worth viewing are the chat sections.( A very sad state of affairs). So my question is if I donot renew am I able to view the chat rooms, eg Find Ancestions - add to the threads and receive comments..

I have been a member for many years and the help I received from many people on these boards was fantastic. Also the general knowledge of thread followers is invaluable and has helped me greatly to access different souces .. eg Jonesy and the 'newspapers '

Cheers

If you do not renew, you can read the boards, but you can't contribute.

Tks for that .. looks like I renew. The boards are too valuable to me for the info I find about diffferent sites to research .. and the great help I have received in the past .. .. and also for some of the funnier 'threads' I have read in recent weeks :-D

Cheers and happy days :-)

Karen .... I downgraded my membership a few months ago until they work out these bugs. Have the cheapest subscription ... think it's about 9 pounds for the year.

Can read and reply to boards, and see and add to my tree. Just can't access records.

I too like many on here have only basic membership - anything else is pretty much worthless to me as I ahve full Ancestry & FMP memberships.

I removed my tree about 6 weeks ago (nothing to do with the ongoing problems) and now only use the chat boards - for me that is £9.00 or so well spent.

:-D

Mine is £7. odd , but was not sure 'til I checked.....

Only some people can renew at £9.
Mine is £7.96.
Normal renewal is £20 for the year.

I've renewed my Platinum for the next twelve months but I did think very hard before I did. It's the boards that keep me here too.

I don't want to subscribe to two places. I am so busy at the moment that I haven't got time to copy and save my tree from here or the pms or my threads. And I will be on holiday soon and if I'm too tired one evening I can buy some computer time and show my friend how to trace her family.

On my list of things to do is get a decent computer programme and copy my tree to it. When my subs come around again I'll be ready to cut right back and pay just enough to keep the boards and be able to reply to them.

I think that all the changes now are for change sake more than anything. GR has been brilliant for me as a starter to do my tree but I am ready for more now.

I could have just renewed for six months but I just don't think I'll have my life organised well enough by then.

The £9.95 ish p.a. is the 'grandfather' rate for people who have had a standard sub for many years.

If you upgrade form that level, there is some evidence that you have to negotiate to go back on to the Grandfather rate if you don't want the access to records. Otherwise is something like £9.95 for Six Months.

Eringobragh - If your local currency isn't GBP, they might have a 'loading' to take into account exchange rates and banking charges. A number of Australian and Canadian members have commented about this in the past.

If you are in a Sterling region, it might be best to check again with GR.
