Hello everyone.
In 1881 my GG Grandparents lived in Batty St Whitechapel.
In 1891 their daughters were living in Worcestershire.
Ok i googled Batty St and at that time murders were committed by Jack The Ripper.
Im just wondering if it was the norm that parents sent their children away.
Does anyone know of the history concerning this.

Who knows? Was there extended family in Worcestershire?

Where the girls 'servants' to wealthy or gentry familes who might have been hired in London then travel with their employers to the 'Country Seat'?

You haven't said they were married, but if they were, they'd go with their husbands to wherever there was work.

If they were living with a family, it might be worth trying to find the Head in an earlier census to see if he was in the Whitechapel area.

Could they have been removed from Whitechapel by a religious or 'improving' society?

I would try looking at the census returns around that time to see where and who they were living with in Worcestershire.
