wonder if the people who take it up will be able to post on the boards for help as well as look at records? It will be interesting to see, if so, how much new business this brings in and whether the new members will be able to use the tree successfully without some of the problems some members have had :-D

"The free trial is only available to members who have not subscribed before"

Which when you think about it is a bit short-sighted...many people who joined before the current range of records were on here, or joined with only standard membership and aren't using the records here, 'might' be inclined to upgrade if they had the chance to see whether the search facility and transcription quality are now as 'good as......'

I could in theory set up an account in my mothers name as she has never subscribed to this site.

So I presume that GR will want your credit card details so at the end of the trial they can then charge.

Yes GB they want credit card details and then "¦The trial lasts for 14 days. You can stop it any point by going to the Account page and changing your subscription options."

Wonder how many complaints there will be that £80 has been taken from their bank account while doing the free trial? Not that the money has really been taken but it has been "put aside" as such
