Edit;
Was concerned that William Huggins and Frederick William Huggins were 2 different men.

Found Ferderick William on NZ ERs.
He was ia draper and lived at the Metropolitan Hotel in Nelson until at least 1946

Andrew,
Can you provide any more info on the William Huggins that you are asking about?
Perhaps his age, was he married ect?

FREDERICK WILLIAM HUGGINS
He first appeared on NZ Electoral Rolls in 1919 in Wellington.
On rolls of 1928, 1935, 1938 and is listed as a draper, living at the Metropolitan Hotel.
He appears on the WW2 ( 1 Jul 1940-31 Mar 1941) nominal roll as Capt Frederick William Huggins of 121 Trafalgar Street, Nelson Importer and clothier
He also appears again in Roll 13 1 Jan 1944- 31 Mar 1944. This time he is a LT COL. He still provides 121 Trafalgar Street as his home address and on both WW2 entries , he gives details if his brother in England as his next of kin.

He is on the 1946 ER at the Metropolitan hotel and is listed as a soldier.
and vanishes after this
There was no one else called Huggins living with him which suggests he was unmarried.
I cannot locate him after 1946 nor can I see an NZ death for him.

Or are you referring to this man..

There was another man in Nelson called WILLIAM HUGGINS
This man was a carpenter who lived in 89 Toi Toi Street, Nelson and appears to have a wife called Virginia.
They disappear off ERs in 1957, and I presume that their deaths are the ones from 1960 and 1961.
William Huggins died in 1960 aged 53yrs and Virginia Huggins died in 1961 aged 57yrs

Hi, Anne I do thank you very much for this infomation, it is the William Huggins (Lt Col) that is the one I am seeking.

Sorry for the lack of info apart from knowing he was a Lt Col and was not married that is all I know of him.
He did return to the UK for a operation but died, my Mum remembers him she is 83, but rembers how nice he was.
With all the info you have given I should be able to find out more about him.

I do thank both you and Gwyn, for your help with out it all would be lost.

Best Regards

Andrew
