I am trying to find out whether Mary Ann Johnson who married Charles Holden Hetherington in 1900 was married before. The reason I am asking this is that she is buried with Charles in Manchester General Cemetery but also buried with them is John Brotherton who in earlier census had a daughter called Mary Ann whose birth date matches Mary Ann Johnson. Any other search guidance is much appreciated.

This is the marriage from Lancs BMD - their entries usually show two names if the bride has been married before:

Do you have the marriage cert? Her father's name would be on it.

If you look at the marriage entry that safc posted the site for you'll see that she was a spinster and her father's name was Thomas Johnson.

Thanks to everyone who has replied to my query, I will look into all the information given.
