I am trying to trace a relative on my husbands side, possibley a great uncle.

We understand that his surname was either Moon or Hulse, he had a tragic fatal accident at Newcastle under Lyme swimming baths sometime during the middle to late thirtees. After which he was given a full military funeral whic paraded throuth the town of Newcastle under Lyme and took him to his resting plade.

Can any one shed any light on this
Thank you Carol

Without his name ( why are you not sure?) it will be difficult.

What else to you know about him?

Great uncle, suggests he was your gran/grandfathers sibling - what was their name?

You need to find out the name.................look on freebmd for the birth

Why is there a doubt about it?

Is it because you don't know which side of the family he connected with?

It wasn't Archibald.....he died in 1919

ErikaH Report 9 Sep 2012 13:33

He didn't necessarily have to be a serving soldier to be accorded the honour of a military funeral

Thanks everyone, we have some details the same as some of you.

I thought that someone in the Newcastle under Lyme area may have heard about this event. As i said previously the name i have is Moon or Hulse however we have no surviving relatives to shed any light on it.

Thanks for all you advice.
