Information available includes: Births that occurred at least 100 years ago Stillbirths that occurred at least 50 years ago Marriages that occurred at least 80 years ago Deaths that occurred at least 50 years ago or the deceased's date of birth was at least 80 years ago.** https://familysearch.org also has New Zealand, Immigration Passenger Lists, 1855-1973 New Zealand, Probate Records, 1878-1960 although they may not be indexed Its always worth asking for specific help with New Zealand as part of the title. There may be other resources which the, ahem, locals know about ;-) You could try a general internet search for the names, or for listings in newspapers. Obits may hold clues as to the surviving relatives.

	Hi from a' local' You could always try The on line, fully searchable, news papers http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz And the Anne Bromell collection which is free to search for Electoral Rolls, 1853-1981 http://search.ancestry.com/search/group/NZ_BROMELL As you will be aware there are no census information kept for NZ...sorry All the Birth marriage and death index's are available locally... (1840-1990 at my local library.) They are microfiche and can be searched....manually. If you are after a 'small number' of people and have a specific name (hopefully rare) and approx date I may be able to help when i next go into the library. The information in the index varies depending on the year but will always come with a reference number that you can use to get certificates. The years that have been made available on line, have added information that the microfiche do not have ...so a bonus. Jeannie
