I am having problems locating a distant ancestor, one John H Priestman.
We know he was born in Hull, Yorkshire in 1889 - we next hear of him emigrating to the US in 1910. He next shows up in 1912 on US marriage records. The next we hear of him is on the 1940 US Census, then again in 1967 US Death records.

But we cannot find anything about him inbetween all thoswe times.

Does anyone have any sugestions on where I should begin looking.

He was a joiner and gave nok as his father John Priestman of 232 Hawthorne Ave, Hull (ties in with 1911 for family on other census records posted).

He had not been to the US before and was going to his friend Mr Garland at 146 Amsterdam Ave, New York (difficult to make out town as it's been written over).
