Many of us know of or are aware of problems with various things on Genes and I would have thought we ALL know what happens when Genes does a 'tweak' so why do some people ask for more and more new things to be done.

Please solve all the outstanding issues before introducing new one!

Hello Everyone

Just a quick message to say that the ‘Featured Story of the Month’ board post no longer contains contact details and does not need to be reported.

OneFootInTheGrave and GlitterBaby I can confirm that I have seen your posts, and that I will be responding within 24 hours.

Speak soon

The advertising is still included in the thread.................

So, can we take it that it is now OK for any member to advertise his/her own products for sale on the GR message boards?

GlitterBaby

GlitterBaby Report 13 Feb 2014 18:28

The Team have some explaining to do.

How come it was okay for that Success Board story to contain an email addy but that has now been removed.

Why ?

Kense

Kense Report 13 Feb 2014 18:55

Surely the explanation is that Genes considered it was OK for that post to advertise the book. Subsequently there was a strong reaction against it from some valued members so they have modified the post.

Hello OneFootInTheGrave. I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing problems with the site. Please can I ask you to email our support team at [email protected], who will be able to look into this, with details on the problem with your tree.

Our support team look at all reported threads on a case by case basis. Due to concern from our members the contact details on the Success Story post in question have been removed.

Kind regards

Hannah

Thanks Hannah - no disrespect to you as I know you are actually trying to help, but I think my post of 13/02/2104@11:52am, not only voices my disappointment of this site, but also my views about the way support responds to problems that have been notified to them "repeatedly"

I am in the sunset of my life, I live in hope, that before I pop my clogs, that someone within the DC Thomson/Brightsolid/GR family - will realise what a debacle this site has been over the past 14 months and do something about it, including beefing up what I call customer relations.

Until whatever occurs first, I will just carry on re-entering the missing information on my tree, checking, double checking, and treble checking, that the information entered has been saved, that will be quicker than waiting for any sort of pro-active response from support.

..........and the rest, GB.

At least one post RR'd on Feb 11th has not yet been dealt with. Incredibly slack..............

Yet when GR's own post was reported........the response was instantaneous!

GlitterBaby Report 15 Feb 2014 13:48

Has no one from the GR Team been working for the last 3 days ?

I thought that reported posts were supposed to be dealt with in 24 hours unless it was reported at the weekend.

Disgraceful service at the moment

Kense

Kense Report 15 Feb 2014 21:24

The T&Cs state, in section 19, that replies to complaints will be within 4 working days.

GlitterBaby

GlitterBaby Report 15 Feb 2014 21:31

But there is a difference between a complaint and a reported thread

One foot in the grave

I have just checked a couple of entries on my tree after reading your post and my own parent's and grand parents' marriages are now showing a year (which is wrong) and a place (Cardiff) which is also horribly wrong

Oh and my own date of birth has been deleted to leave just the year? am I not allowed to put my own date of birth in any more ?

so has this been sorted or not (obviously not)

what's being done please?

Hello Everyone

Our apologies for the recent delay in responding - it seems a technical fault prevented some messages reaching our support team last week. This was resolved yesterday and is now being closely monitored.

OneFootInTheGrave and Janet - I'm afraid that only our support team at [email protected] are able to investigate individual account problems, so please do send them more information and they will be able to look into for you.

Kind regards

Hannah

Hi Hannah

I have sent my query to support, but had assumed that as it had affected more than one or two trees it wasn't an individual account problem

they are working on it now

I have had a post reported and removed from this thread....where is my email explaining why?

Because as far as I was aware there was nothing wrong with it

Edit - Don't worry the poster has deleted her thread now

Thank you, Shelley, for the reassurance about the Team.

Following your statement that Hannah will be monitoring the Genealogy Chat board moving forward, will other members of the Team be monitoring other boards?
And will the Team's information be reinstated?

Thank you.

Have the Team put any measures in place to stop any of the old threads on WDYTYA Live Requests getting new posts ?

When is the Team officially going to ask members for their help ?
