Is it just me or has the reported thread "Advice on Ancestry" posted by Joyce GONE

If GR are going to uphold reported threads from this Genealogy Chat board of that nature then is their any point in having a Genealogy Chat boards at all,

............is it because I said whoever had reported it was an idiot?

It was under review before I said that but now it's gone altogether............

Surely Genealogy Chat is about getting the best out of whatever site and records are available anywhere? asking questions and getting answers

Like you, I thought it daft to have been reported, and would have posted if the site hadn't gone down.

However, after re-reading Roses clarification thread, there probably were some grounds for removal.

At least (added - this) time, the poster had received sufficient replies to have answered her question - and acknowledged them.

Det, I understand your point although I thought the OP was fine in that regard but if their was some comment in that OP that infringed the T&C's then according to the T&C's GR can "EDIT" out the offending Part or parts their off so in the interest of fairness and continuity then it would have been better for GR to have used that option.

I saw that thread before & after it was RR'd and could see nothing wrong with it.

If an innocent thread like that gets RR'd and GR back up the reason given then it will put a lot of members off posting anything on this board.

GB, That's how I see it, That is why I have quoted the fact that GR can Edit the post rather than take the easy option of just deleting everything

There was absolutely nothing in that post which could be considered derogatory to GR.

I don't think GR was even mentioned, actually............

The query related to the LDS site, and possible transfer of info from there to Ancestry......which doesn't happen, of course.

we have been told umpteen times that it is OK to post information on or from other sites AS LONG AS there is no derogatory comparison between GR and those other sites.


This constant RR'ing of posts mentioning other sites is a sure way to drive away current members and deter new members


That could then possibly lead to what has long been my fear ............. that GR would cease to exist.



I wonder if that is the ultimate intention of the RR'er?
