Edward being born in 1872 that is - plus I have since found Christina b. 1875 and Elizabeth born 1873 again with Mothers maiden name as DILLON (In Wigan).

Yes I think DILLON is the right one as Daughter Margaret and Son Edward were born in Wigan in the right year and both have Mothers maiden name as DILLON :)

Do we know how I would trace them between marriage in 1853 and the Wigan census in 1871 please?

Sorry I had not seen the posting above when I mentioned Preston....I had seen DILLON on the records but now you have found marriage record I am liking this...thank you :)

I am possibly finding some links to Preston? May be a long shot but there was a marriage of a William Bell and Margaret Slater in 1853....and there is a death of Ellen Bell aged 2 in 1855 in Preston? May be a long shot as I say

Have you managed to find any of the births registered ?

I am helping a friend do some reserach and have located her family back to the 1871 census but seem to be stuck now. 1911 - 1871 they are always located in Wigan but note the 1881 census it says Mother Margaret and oldest Son David were born in Ireland so maybe this is why I cannot find the family in 1861? By 1881 Father William has died.

Below is the 1871 census, from this information, can anyone find the family earlier to this please? Or info on any family members?
