I think all of the above are correct!

My dad was born in 1921 - and I went into care in 1983 - my numbers are wrong!

My 2 sisters were adopted at birth, us 4, my brothers and I went into Care, apart from Andrew as he was 21 in 1983.

The first sister, Sylvia is my mums only, the 2nd, Jacqueline is both parents.

Sorry, some of the above must be wrong.

If your father was born in 1922, and was 62 when you went into care, that was 1984.
By 1984 the births that I posted are of people some of whom were adults in 1984.

Were all in care adopted, or just 2 of the daughters?

Were the children adopted your full sisters, or half-sisters?

If you are hoping to connect with adopted siblings, your best bet is to add yourself to the national adoption contact register.............they may have done the same

You should also put their names in 'search all trees' - one or more of them may be using GR in the same way as you. Nothing lost by looking................

It would be better, though, to delete your mother's actual DOB..............unless you know that she is not alive.

Hi all

Thank you so much. My Dads name was Thomas Darby - born 3/12/1922 we think. My mums name is Mary Kathleen Fitzgerald, born 24/6/1939 - mum was born in Waterford, Ireland, and I think, although not sure, that dad was born in Stepney.

I have 4 brothers, 2 sisters.

I found my second adopted sisters birth record last night - have no idea where to go from here tho.

Not sure how much more to put on here - as don't want to overload you - but I have names etc if siblings and 1 uncle and aunt on my mums side.

Many thanks
Jen

Jennifer

Jennifer Report 10 Aug 2013 00:01

My dad was 62 when we went into Care.

Jennifer

Jennifer Report 9 Aug 2013 23:59

Yep thats right - he was much older than my mum.

No - he didn't marry my mum - he was previously married though, but I have no details of her.

ErikaH Report 9 Aug 2013 23:50

So your father was 65 by the time you were put in care....................or have I misunderstood?

Did he marry your mother?

Jennifer

Hi - Thanks for coming back to me. Well, I have my social services files, and it says in there that my dad had huge problems proving his age for his state pension due to his birth not being registered. He was left in a Barnados home when he was tiny.

No - think my dad was born in Stepney

Yep - he's on my birth cert.

Thanks lot's

If your parents weren't married, it will be tricky........

How do you know that your father's birth wasn't registered?

Was he also born in Ireland?

Is he named on your birth cert?

Jennifer

Jennifer Report 9 Aug 2013 23:20

Hi

Am new to this. Was bought up in Care so don't know too much about my heritage.

I know that my mum had 2 daughters who were adopted, that she born in Wtaerford, Ireland, and that my dads birth wasn't registered.

I know a few other bits too.

How do I get started?

Thanks lot's

Jen
