When I have phoned them in the last year they have been Irish and polite

The Americans in the past have been less helpful

Contact Ancestry direct, they will sort any problems out.

I find it best to phone and speak to someone direct rather than email

and being in the US they are SOOO polite.... :-D

It used to look to the right, with flicked up shoulder length.
Some of mine now look to the left and have a bun.

I tried to see if there was a difference in the .com and .co.uk sites, but it isn't consistant.

Perhaps its the change that resulted in the lost photos?

My tree is back to normal now with all photos and docs in view.

Has the female profile changed?
Something does look different but I cannot recall what it looked like before?

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 20 Sep 2013 09:13

When I looked at the site sometime yesterday, the generic profile for females had changed from looking to the right to looking to the left (with hair in a bun instead of a bob)

It's back to the original today!

I was mistaken - some are, some aren't. :-S

No reply from Ancestry and the problem with photos still unresolved.

Me too!
I thought that I was going mad!
I have/had 2494 photos on my tree and around half of them have become that grey thing???

Just found the message:

I've got the message now

We’re currently experiencing some intermittent problems with images on our site. We appreciate your patience as we work to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.

It had better be only temporary..........over 300 photos and about 90% missing.

From Facebook

Ancestry.co.uk Hi Julie, We're sorry to hear about the inconvenience. Right now, we are aware of an issue that is causing member photos from displaying. Other than that, you should be able to search the site and access your tree. Have you tried all of the suggestions mentioned here? http://ancstry.me/NX7fpu

I have one photo and one marriage cert that has been changed

Off to see if anyone has said anything on their FB page

I'm similarly affected. Some photo's are still there but others replaced with what I assume is an Ancestry image. 9 out of 97 have been changed.

EDIT:

This is currently being displayed at the top of Ancestry pages:

"We’re currently experiencing some intermittent problems with images on our site. We appreciate your patience as we work to resolve the problem as quickly as possible."

I just tried to view the tree on my Ipad app, and that's the same, so has to be an Ancestry problem.

Hi Andy

Just looked at mine, very strange some have disappeared but not all of them, as you say those that have gone have been replaced by generic photo.

Will await to see what reply you get.

I don't have many photos on Ancestry, but they're all there, thank goodness.

A large number of photos on my Ancestry tree have vanished and been replaced by an Ancestry generic photo. I've emailed them to find out whats going on. Anyone else suffering the same thing?
