On looking up my husbands family I went along a wrong path. However, my work may be of use to someone. I've got the service record for
William James Cann
Birth: 29/11/1867
Where: Eggbuckland
Occupation: Torpedo Gunner
Mentioned in dispatches in WW1 for Battle of Jutland, and awarded Cross of St Anne.
I've the battle details and a picture of what the medal would have looked like.

If this is your ancestor and you'd like this info please get in touch.
Bless you
Debbie

Hi Debbie

Have you looked to see if anyone has this person in their tree?

Thanks for the tip, but can't find any that match. Just thought it was worth a try. I did a lot of research and don't like to think it's wasted.
Bless you

That's the one Kath - thank you. I'll try and find Maureen and get in touch. She may have all the history anyway, but it's a great story and his family should know about it.
Bless you
Debbie
