In many instances if you do know the cemetary, give them a call direct if you know the date of death. They may still hold the record books

However, if you do have to contact the council, as said many are now charging for this search, not necessarily as a money making exercise, but because it is time consuming for many a department which is stretched and understaffed. So time taken off to do genealogical research is time which has to now be factored in to many an already stretched working day.

And some councils (Wandsworth in London) charge £30.00+ per seach for this, they are money grabbing jobsworths (I do have a problem with this council!).

Thanks Folks, Glitter you have her there, even though she never lived near Ormskirk ( I do it is 5 miles away ) she was in that hospital for some reason as i have her death cert... and Ford Cem ...that will make it easier for me to search. Thank you so much Folks will contact the cemeteries dept....

At that time would be municipal cemeteries owned by the local Council or could have been a cremation again council.

If you have death certs contact the local council Parks & Cemeteries dept giving them the details from the death certs and they should be able to give you the info.

May charge though for the search as lots are now latching on to it being a money earner

Contact Liverpool Cemeteries Department. If you have the exact date of death they should be able to find out for you whether or not he is buried in one of their 6 cemeteries.

Just wondered if anyone knew how i could fine the Grave of my G Grandpa :

Joseph Rigby died on 24/05/1940 in Liverpool, his wife Mary Ellen Rigby died 29/05/1941, are there any sites I can check, if i only knew the graveyard i would do a search on foot...bit of a long shot i know....But no one alive to ask.
