I have been trying all afternoon to download my tree from Genes to Ancestry.

Genes sent me my tree by Email .

Saved it to my desktop ,did what I thought was corrrect but Ancestry say it does not appear to be a genuine Gedcom try again .
can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong ?

Try downloading it again from GR - sometimes it gets corrupted.

If it still doesn't work, give Ancestry a ring. They do have a free phone (from the UK) number.
Look at Ancestry's Home page and the details at the bottom to find the number. You might have to use the 'contact us' option to find it

Pleased to read you've managed to sort it :-D

Is it OK to mention Ancestry? Yes, as long as you don't compare it either favourably or unfavourably to GR. Just take a neutral stance ;-)

Other people are having problems with their emoticons on here. See

You can probably put a smiley face by typing colon hyphen close bracket i.e .: - ) without the spaces in between.

That should be seen by those of us who don't use IE8 and Windows XP.
