HATE IT

just bought it cos got a new laptop and my 2006 FTM wouldnt load onto it as out of date.

Put the FTM on my laptop and downloaded the tree from Ancestry that fortunately I had uploaded BUT am having great difficulty finding my way round the tree on FTM .

On my 2006 version on my old PC I can span through the family and quickly find any connections through marriage to any part of the tree for anyone connected to that side.

I HATE the 2012 version find the 2006 much better to navigate

It is a completely different program to the old 2006 version, not an upgrade. Granted, some of the functions of the old program haven't been totally replicated but you soon get used to it.

I have been using it for a few years (from the earlier FTM2010 version through 2011 and now 2012) and whilst I still have the old program, I only use it perhaps once a year and then only to view old trees that other researchers have sent me which I haven't bothered to convert.

2012 is much more point and click, so to an extent, you have to re-learn how to navigate around, but once you get more familiar with its workings it becomes second nature.

Thanks ISP

Guess as well as the new program I am stll learning how to use the laptop too which is windows 7 when have been used to XP on my PC
The PC does still work so do find myself going back to that from time to time

At the mo am on my IPad which I have had to get used too to

Too many upgrades in a short time is probably my confusion at this time :-(
