yes I think they were in prison in 1912 it says only for 1 month.
I wonder where.

You might have to ask Surrey Record Office for advice, and to see if they have historical newspapers on fiche. The only prison close to Croydon which comes up on an internet search is High Down which was opened in the 1990s

They aren't in prison on the 1911 - perhaps they'd just been released?

Hi,
they are both out of prison in the 1911 census but in 1912 they appeared to have spent time in and out of the workhouse between 1910-1912, certainly their children were inthere on their own at one point. It was 1912 when I saw the prison comment

There might be an article in the British Newspaper Archive on this site, or FMP.

As Reggie says, which census? The parents should be shown on the corresponding Prison census. When were they born?

Hi,
My grandfather was recorded as in Croydon Surrey Workhouse whilst his parents were 'in prison one month' .
Q- any idea where i might find out what prison and what for?
I have checked the National Archives prison records search and found nothing.
