I did not know then a niece had a tree, but now I do. There is also a tree belonging to a sister and I am helping the younger sister to trace Julie.
Julie was born between them.

I thought the tree belonged to her niece, daughter of the mothers brother

What is your connection to this family please?

Ronda

Ronda Report 2 Dec 2013 21:29

The family trees belonged to an older sister, who also doesn't know what happened to her as she was born a year before and was never told.

Thank you Gins & Jax. Very interesting
I will approach it through GR first

The tree owner on ancestry seems to have a tree on here as well. although she doesn't seem to have this family in it.

If the mother does not know where her child is buried, I would not expect this person to know either really

She is a member of the Huth side

PM

When you said a private tree, would that be a tree that a family member has started in Ancestry?
If so would you then have to pay a subscription like we do at GR?

Ancestry is a subscription site and because the tree is private you have to sub to contact and ask the tree owner permission to view their tree

You can take a 2 week free trial for Ancestry

There is a private tree at Ancestry that has her details

You could try contacting them to ask if they have any further info

In that case, the hospital might well have handled everything. Be prepared for an unmarked grave shared with others.

Start off with Cemeteries, then possibly ask Epsom Hospital what the usual practice was at that time. You never know, they might still have a record

Thanks for your help so far Kath & DetEcTive
Mother never knew what happened, Father arranged death certificate, did not tell anyone and has now passed away.

Google "Epsom and Ewell Local and Family History Centre "

They apparently hold

Cemetery Records
Epsom Cemetery 1954 to 1999
Undated graves 1958 to 1997

This link has contact details - they may make a charge or ask for a donation

If the parents didn't make arrangements, the babe might have been buried in a special child section with young children in an unmarked plot

By 1969, there was the option of Cremation. If there are no burial records you could contact the nearest appropriate Crematorium

I would start by asking at the nearest cemetery or churchyard to the hospital or the family's address at the time. If you don't know where the family lived then the address should be on the death certificate.

You may find that as she died as a baby she was placed in the coffin of a stranger who was being buried at the same time. This was a practice that often happened in the past.

Cannot you ask the Mother or Father?

Ronda

Ronda Report 1 Dec 2013 23:04

Can anybody help me to find where Julie Louise Tappy was laid to rest?
Julie was born & passed away in Epsom Hospital on the 23rd June 1969.
Mothers maiden name was Huth.
