I am looking for immigration information from Ireland to America in the years 1850-1860. Does anyone have suggestions of where to look or how to proceed?

Ancestry & FMP both have some passenger lists/immigration books - if you don't have subscriptions to those sites, try posting up the details on here. I'm sure someone will take a look & see what can be found.

Familysearch.org is another useful site and has many American records.

Findmypast's passenger lists don't start until 1890 so too late for what you are looking for.

Ancestry have "New York, Passenger Lists, 1820-1957."

The Findmypast records - Passenger Lists leaving UK 1890-1960 - are also on GR

I've often found records on Castle Garden http://www.castlegarden.org/about.php

Of course, New York may not have been their point of entry to the US - Ancestry have passenger lists for other ports too.

FindMyPast Worldwide also has a variety of US arrival lists.
