I would love to find out who lived in my house in 1911, but as I have no name to use can anyonegive me a clue as to how to go about it.

Thank in anticipation

Findmypast used to have a search by address function, but apparently its all gone wrong.

If you live close to a library with a Local Studies section, or close to an Archive, you may be able to search the ER for the period or the trade directories for the name of any eligible male voter. You can then use that to search the census.

You do have to bear in mind that street numbering may have changed since then. An Archivist/Reference Librarian ought to be able to help you. If there is church, chapel or old pub in the same street, it might be possible to count dwellings from that to work out the location of your home.

1911 can be searched by address on both FMP and Ancestry........do you subscribe to either site?

Do you know when the house was built?

Has it always had exactly the same address?

Hi

You would have to give the house number to get the right family?

On the 1911 ER as shown on Ancestry, a quick glance gives a house number of at least 146.

As you may not wish to give an exact address, could you suggest that we search say odd numbers between 15 and 23? There would still be 5 results.............but not 146+! :-D

When was the house built?

Has there been any re-numbering of the road?
