I'm just about at the end of the trail, and I wonder if any of the clever 'genies' out there can help.
Search as I might I cannot find the location of the crew list for the Port Sydney. Official number 136660, National archives have a log dating from 1939, but I cannot finds anything earlier. This Port Sydney was scrapped in 1948
Short history
Herbert Henry Hall was my grandfather born London 2 Oct 1879, identity cert number 446608 He was a merchant seaman. The earliest known maritime record of him is with the sinking of the Port Kembla off the cost of NZ in 1917, It is very likely that he then signed on the collier Ngahere owned by the Blackball Coal company(.I'm looking at that record at National Archives, Kew, this weekend) before being able to return to England.
His children were born in 1906, 1913, and 1921 respectively, which give me approximate dates for him being at home in London, but his whereabouts inbetweentimes is yet to be determined, he was not at home on census night 1911 either. But that is another search altogether.
I've located the crew lists for the other ships listed on his CR10 by their official number. Dated 1922 - 1924, There is an entry on a separate page of the CR10 'Pt Sydney 9/8/19', which makes me wonder if this was the ship he returned to England on.
Sorry to ramble a bit, but I wanted to provide as much information as possible.
:-S

Thank ArgyllGran, yes I already knew that. The information I am looking for is date specific to August 1919.
It's a long shot, but I'm not one to give up

Hmmm, so that put the ship in Australia in September 1919.
Food for thought. Thanks Margee
