Of course I have often been tempted to stick in one dud family member. Someone with a totally ridiculous name. DOB 29.2.etc. and an occupation where the description covers a truly banal job.

As I have a couple of trees on Ancestry I could set up a 3rd for just this purpose, in fact I could have a whole tree made up of complete rubbish, just like so many others on there!! All I have to do is add every hint to every name. It would be fun!!!! :-D :-D

i no what you mean as i have seen trees with my grandmother
marring in stepney when it clearly says west ham on the records
it very clear that all these people are coping from each other and not doing there own research

and these people carnt even tell me one thing about my grandmother
if some one ask me about any one on my tree at least i can say well going from the record
it say bla bla bla

and thay dont even want to bother chaning info when i tell them and even
show them the info from ancestry.

o well there broblem not mine

:-D :-D :-D

It doesn't bother me now - in fact I think it is hilarious.

One of my pet hobbies is to do mini one-name studies - these are all for names who have ancestral connections to either myself or my wife. I am happy to share branches with selected people but have to accept that the information might get passed on to others.

A few years back someone agreed to 'do me a favour' by sending me some information another researcher has let her have for my great grandmother's family. I duly received an genealogy report from this person which contained the very same info I had sent to two others twelve months earlier.

As these studies are very much work in progress, details can often change as new information comes to light so I can often tell when someone I have never heard of tries to pass of one of my earlier versions as their own because of the errors it contains.

trouble is that with these people that copy take and dont share
they spoil it for other like us that do like to share and do how tree propley
i have also stop opening shearing my tree
and i have promise my self not to send any one any photos and certs
unless i can see that are are serious about do there tree

its a great shame as some of use are missing out with ancestry photos etc
and i do love to try and put a photo next to the ancestors name
some think that we all like to do

But sadly, they will have already scrumped away. All you can do by removing their access to your tree is to stop them taking any new info.

These people are despicable.

They will often tell you they have pictures etc., that they too can share and like a mug you give them copies of photos etc., and then they disappear off into the ether never to be heard from again.

Click on 'Messages' (top of screen)
Click on 'My Contacts'
Find the person you gave access to.
Click on 'Stop' under the Tree heading.

They will no longer have access.

Kay???? Report 28 Jun 2014 18:24

You cant,,,,,,,you gave permission to access,,,,,of course they will copy all you have given them access to,,,,,you have done all the work,,,,,they reap the benifits, but that is part and parcel of FH,,,,,dont share if you arent happy to and dont give full access, just give bits that are relevant to theirs,,,,,,,,

GR can deny them anymore access if you contact the support team,
