i have the same problem with my grandmother on my fathers side and great grandmother on my mothers side. i can not find their maiden names looked on their childrens births but maiden name is blank. :-(

Are you referring to the GRO index of births?

Maiden names of mothers are not shown on the index before 1911, but will be shown on the actual birth certificate.

If you would like help to search, post a few names and dates and probable area and people will do their best to help you.
