Lincs PR's are on FMP

As you'd expect, a lot of the records were indecipherable, so only a percentage ever gets transcribed

Google the parish you are looking for and you should get a result of where those are held.

Most Archives have on-line catalogues of what they hold.

How about having a look for parishes of interest, then doing an internet search to see if they have been transcribed?
You also have to consider that transcribers have to type what they see. You might be able to spot a family surname which they thought to be something else. :-)

It's not possible to say - there's too much variability amongst the LROs abt which of their records are online.
I think Essex, Medway and Durham are the only ones with any quantity on their own sites - Durham's are also on FMP and, to a lesser extent, FS.
It's worth checking out FS, even though not all their online images are indexed.

There is a lot left to be transcribed - in fact nationwide the majority are untranscribed

Hello everyone.
Just wondering if anyone knows how extensive online parish records now are, and if it is still worth visiting archives in person?
I know this is a very general query, but as I haven't the faintest idea, any views/info would be most welcome!
