Used to find loads of info in the rates books when I lived in Brum.
Much overlooked source.

it confirms that my FIL,s dad was renting the house in Regents Street Harborne where dad was born in 1901

His birth was registered as if his parents were married but i found out yonks ago they werent cos his dad was an older married man. He was a traveling salesman who managed not to be with the family on every census .

his mum was at the address on the 1901 census with her two daughters and was pregnant with dad at the time ,dad was born at the same address in july 1901

it all fits together nicely and confirms my previous findings

They parted when dad was around 6 and he was put into a home , poor lad
