Welcome to the boards Diane.

Do you mean you have paid on this GR site to see records please?

If you would lie to give us a name, place of birth etc of who you are looking for I am sure someone would be able to help you on here free of charge.

Welcome to the boards Diane

Just put the known details with a wide search in the search box. E.g. He might be William, but by ticking 'name variants' you will also be shown 'Wm'. Then on the left hand side select the PR results to view those.

No one site holds all transcribed records - google the likely parish or county + parish records to be directed to a number of free sites. eg
http://www.freereg.org.uk/
https://familysearch.org/
http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/online_parish_clerk

Only a very limited number of PR's has been transcribed, so you may be looking for info that doesn't yet exist on line

Hello Diane

As well as taking the advice above, try googling the area you are interested in to see if they have an online parish clerk. Medway, Lancashire and several others have amazing records. Good luck.

(I'll let Diane know how to find her replies.) :-)

The ukbmd site will tell you which counties have active online Parish Clerk information

http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/online_parish_clerk

just click enter county of interest to see whether it is covered

this is an alternate site that will help you find if "your" county of interest is covered

http://www.genuki.org.uk/indexes/OPC.html

I've also had good luck by Googling either the name of a person of interest OR the name of the town where they lived

............. getting information as far back as 1791 for a marriage in Settle, Yorkshire

alternatively, ancestry is a subscription site which has quite a good collection of Parish Records.

Thank you to everyone who kindly gave their time to help me in my search for the Parish Records. Sorry for the delay in answering, have been out of town for a few weeks, minus my IPad. I am now going to get started in my search.
