That is a very generous offer. You don't seem to be swamped with requests, so if you have time after doing all your own research, I would be very grateful if you could find the baptism of my great, great grandmother.

She was Caroline Palmer, born in either Kings Heath or Kings Norton (depending which census you look at!) in 1829/30. She was 31, 41 and 51 on censuses from 1861 on.

That is all I know about her before her marriage in 1856 to Daniel Hyde and would very much like to find the names of her parents.

I think Kings Heath/Norton are next to each other, so hopefully it won't be too difficult.

Thank you very much. :-) :-)

Hi Andysmum.

I see from the marriage that the father was just W. Palmer - what can I say!

I am not sure how easy a search would be without a church, or even a father's name. However! I am going to tentatively suggest this one

William above is a labourer. But there is this birth to possibly the same couple - in 1851 William is a labourer, but in 1861 he is a gardener, as the father on Caroline's marriage cert, and they are from Kings Heath.

Aha! This is the Hannah above. (def her as she was born Alvechurch).
Now, just bear with me. She is with daughter Ann and Ann's husband Isaac. If you check their marriage, although no fathers are named, Isaac happens to be a gardener. More significantly, one of the witnesses is Caroline Palmer.

It's definitely right. Now I know the name, I can see that one of the witnesses to Caroline's marriage is Isaac Shipton.
