Thank you for your replies, I bought a book several years ago by Readers Digest called "How to Trace Your Family on the Internet" which I had been told was no longer printed, well I managed to buy one today for £14.99 published in 2012 not too long ago. Its name is rather misleading because it explains and show pictures of a lot of basic documents like the Census, BMD certificates as well as ways of using the Internet. I think it is a very clear and easy to read book (although rather large and heavy if you need to post it).

I have that one too, but mine is 2006. It was first published in 2004, so appears to hyave been re-published every year. Apart from what is now available on the internet, it won't have changed much.

The cover price was £20.00, but you might get a cheaper one through somewhere like Amazon.

"Tracing your Family History" by Anthony Adolph, my edition is 2007, don't know if there is a more up to date one.

Hi everyone,

I know how helpful you all are,

I want to purchase a book as a present which gives basic information on Census, BMD Certificates and maybe a few Internet sources which is up to date. As time is fairly short i do not have a lot of time to go to many bookshops to study them in person.

I was hoping to spend no more than £10.00

Thanks
