I am trying to find my birth weight. I was born at Queen Charlottes Hospital Hammersmith London which is now closed. Would the information have been transferred to another hospital?

Are you sure it's closed? Have a look at this site, which sounds like the same place, with a slightly different name.

Have asked at your GP's? If you were born after the NHS came into being, it might be on your medical records.

In the hospital where I used to work, maternity casenotes were only kept for 26 years.
I'm not sure if that's a general guideline or not.

As for your medical records. A lot depends on how many times you have changed Doctors.

In the past when I transferred from one to another, I found that my records had been culled.

So all my childhood stuff had been removed and destroyed!!!!
