I would advise that you hang fire with the printing until you have 100% accuracy
At the moment, you have allocated the wrong parents to the man who was married to Caroline

July 26th 1902 Arthurs second marriage took place at Cooksmill Green Chapel, Roxwell and was to Thirza Goward a 19r old spinster whose father, Samuel Ezekiel Goward was listed as a Gardener. Arthur was listed as a widower and an Agricultural Labourer whilst his father was listed as (Deceased) Cattle Farmer. Ellan Parrish and Mary Ann Goward (nee Horsenell) were the witnesses. I'm sure you understand that before the GRO came into being, there were no birth records - only baptisms.
If one is very lucky, the DOB is recorded, but it's the exception when that happens, so you have to accept that actual DOB's are hardly ever available, and make do with the baptism info, and, in the case of James and Caroline, age at death.

In my use of the Essex RO I have found that on average birth dates are given in parish baptism registers in just under 10% of cases. Usually that is when the person is baptised a long time after the birth but some incumbents recorded it as a matter of routine.
If possible it is worth checking the image of the baptism record as it may not be recorded in the on-line transcriptions available.
Something to bear in mind is that the estimated birth year given in a transcriptions of a census entry (excluding the 1841 census) is likely to be one year out.
That is because the estimate is given by subttracting the age from the census year, but that is only correct for those whose birthday falls before the census date. As the census is taken at the end of March/beginning of April the estimate will be one year later than the actual birth year for about three people out of four.

Thanks for the information you kindly supplied, however, its gonna take a while for me to plow through everything you and some others have supplied. Didn't really think I'd get such a quick and informative response. Once again, many thanks. Ron

If you key in Ezekiel Goward b 1839 (give or take 2yrs) the names that come up are Ezekiel Goward in 1841, 1851, and 1861,but it also shows Samuel E in 1881 and Samuel Ezekiel in 1911. My question is, why did they appear to change after 1861? Could it be that his parents baptized him with both names but preferred Ezekiel BUT when he married, he quoted both his names. On the other hand, are these two different people? But where are the 1891 and 1901 census reports?
And before I forget, thanks everyone for your help so far.
Ron

You haven't yet commented on the fact that you have chosen the wrong parents, and that James was not born c1806, but was born c1801
Also, when looking for info about Ezekiel, you appear to have totally overlooked the birth registration posted by Chris, and the question about whether or not you have a copy of the cert

It looks to me like the James baptised at Shellow Bowells in 1801, was the one who married Caroline Oddy at Willingale Doe in 1825.
I think the second witness for the marriage is Pavitt as that is a common surname around there at that time. It does look like Revitt though.
For those unfamiliar with the area this report, by the Parloc program, shows nearby parishes.
