The indexes for all Scottish BMDs up to 2014 are available on Scotlandspeople. You can't view /download recent entries but you can see the year that the event took place. For births prior to 1915, marriages prior to 1940 and deaths prior to 1965 you can view the entries. But for more recent ones you need to order the certificate.

These don't seem to be death records.
The info is created from Obituaries and Findagrave

On the other hand, a relative of mine, who died in Scotland in 2004 and did leave a will, isn't listed there.

Old genealogists never die.....they just lose their census.

Interesting comment about probate records as I know my uncle who died in 2004 did leave a will but not my aunt.

As The Scottish Gov. does not sell their records, I find it all very dubious.

Again as said on a previous thread about this, it looks like someone has tried to create something from the newly released probate records!!

According to the other thread about Ancestry death records, the England and Wales ones are also far from complete.

Not sure the Scottish records are complete.

My aunt and uncle both died in Glasgow.
Can find one in 2004 but not the other in 2006
