Hello,
Does anyone have access to birth records for Clifton. I'm trying to verify that a Frank Thomas Burfitt born Feb 1875 and registered Clifton has a mothers maiden name of Bedgood sometimes written as Bidgood.
Any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks
Paul

Hello KathleenBell,
That's the information I currently have and believe to be correct. It's Frank that causing me a headache and I'm hoping to confirm that they were indeed his parents.
Many thanks

That's the census record I found too Sylvia although I couldn't find a death of the father.

I think you may have to buy the birth certificate to be certain Paul.

Hello Sylvia,
I believe his father died I think in 1876 and then married an Edward Williams in Pontypridd in 1884.
Thanks

Hi Kathleen,
You are probably right. It's been quite a challenge to track him because he moved around the country working for the railway. There were two Frank Burfitt's living in Cardiff both born in the Bristol area at roughly the same time, One was Frank Joseph (Bristol) and the other was Frank Thomas (Clifton). I've discounted the Frank Joseph after purchasing his marriage certificate. In the last few weeks I received his death certificate and also the Will for Frank Thomas. In his will he leaves everything to his nephew and nieces all Williams. Today I received his nieces marriage certificate and her father's name has thrown a spanner in the works. It looks like a certificate may be the only solution.
Many thanks
Paul

I think you're going to have to give in and buy the birth certificate, for £9.25 .................

if there is nothing online that shows the mother's maiden name, then buying is the only option

£9.25 really isn't very much if you need to know :-D

Just for future reference: a lot of Gloucester now comes under the modern Gloucestershire Rego District, and a small bit of Somerset comes under Bath RD.

Both these RDs have their own BMD indexes online, and these indexes do list the mum's maiden surname on births pre1911q3. They also both give age at death pre 1866, and say who wed whom pre-1912. See -
http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/local_bmd
for these and other local indexes.
